About Me
I have worked with adults, children, and adolescents for over 15 years. I have worked in schools, group homes, and in community based mental health services. I have worked with young children, adolescents, adults, and parents. I have worked with foster children, adopted children, foster parents, and adoptive parents. I have worked with Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, and multiple other types of collaborative treatment providers. All of these experiences have provided me with a well rounded understanding of how stress, trauma, mental health struggles, physical health struggles and disabilities, developmental health struggles and disabilities, educational struggles and disabilities etc. all impact functioning and resilience. There are many factors related to our ability to adapt, manage, and overcome stress and adversity in life. For most of my professional career I have helped others overcome adversity and life's challenges in providing resources and support and in helping cultivate resilience and wellbeing. In addition, my own experiences of having a sensitive nervous system and being very familiar with feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and burnt out have led me to personally experience the amazing power of applying the Polyvagal Theory and HeartMath techniques, along with the essential role of embodiment, to my personal and professional lives. I am passionate about supporting others through life's challenges and cultivating awareness, new perspectives, and a toolbox full of regulating resources, resulting in a life that feels manageable and balanced.
How individuals function (or struggle to function) has deeply impacted by how the body, especially the nervous system and our heart rhythm patterns, are set in in certain baselines and default patterns that result in how we manage, respond, and cope with the current level of stress, perceived threats in the environment, triggered past experiences, and limiting beliefs that are influencing a person in the present moment. A person's attachment style and experiences with relationships also plays a large role in current functioning, adaptive behaviors, struggles with boundaries within relationships, and our ability to seek and find co-regulation with safe and trusted others. I enjoy helping others gain an understanding about these basic foundations and how these factors impact (negatively and positively) our connections with others and the ability to function on a day to day basis, along with learning how powerful and necessary embodiment, mindfulness, and awareness is for overcoming past struggles and traumatic expereinces. Learning how to cope with dysregulation, stress, overwhelm, issues with social and intimate connections, and other symptoms that show up due to these struggles are imperative and attainable. I like to teach quick and effective strategies that can be used at anytime, work immediately, and can have long term effects.
I also love teaching about how to cultivate resilience. HeartMath defines resilience as the capacity to prepare for, recover from, and adapt in the face of stress, challenge, or adversity. We all need resilience in our lives to thrive and achieve wellbeing. Along with teaching about the autonomic nervous system and stress responses we experience in life, I love helping others learn how to cultivate and sustain a resilient lifestyle. We all need balance. We all deserve to be happy, healthy, and thrive. We need tools to help us feel regulated and supported. We need tools to build and maintain resiliency. We deserve to hold the capacity to manage life's challenges well and not feel burdened by stressors that are our of our control. Together we will help you build resiliency and activate heart based living.

"By using your heart as your compass, you can see more clearly which direction to go to stop self-defeating behavior. If you take just one mental or emotional habit that really bothers or drains you and apply heart intelligence to it, you'll see a noticeable difference in your life." ~ Doc Childre
